Box 264 was struck for a structure fire at 5 Ahern Avenue. Engine 2 arrived to find a heavy fire condition in the rear of the building and a report of people still in the building. The people were evacuated and crews made an aggressive attack on the fire. A 2nd alarm was transmitted bringing Engine 3 and a ladder truck from the Watervliet Arsenal. With there still being no Mutual Aid with the Watervliet Fire Department and Albany Fire Department working a structure fire of their own, this made them unavailable to respond for Mutual Aid. Engine 2 was on duty due to a "Peak" Ambulance being placed in service from 8am to 8 pm every day. No injuries were reported. Please be safe!
